Lech - Zürs - St. Anton
LECH: Originally established as Tannberg am Lech by the Walser people from the Canton of Valais in western Switzerland, the Lech region has witnessed continuous development. Nevertheless, it has always known how to preserve its essential mountain village charm – to the delight of visitors from around the world. Typical features include cheerful murals on the walls of homes, the extension of houses using regional materials and an approach to home design that is testament to the harmonious growth of the entire region. Lech is now one of the most popular holiday regions in the world. Hospitality, long-established customs and a tranquility maintained throughout the centuries attract guests from all over the globe to this El Dorado of the Alps, located some 1,450 to 2,450 metres above sea level.
ZÜRS: Zürs boasts a terrific history of winter sports dating back to the turn of the 20th century. In addition, its people were pioneers when it came to exploring the potential of winter. Key players included Viktor Sohm, who held the first skiing lesson for locals in 1906, and the team around Sepp Bildstein that built Austria’s first surface lift in 1937.
The entire region is now firmly established as one of the world’s elite winter sports destinations. 200 km of high-Alpine powder runs, 305 km of perfectly groomed ski runs, lifts featuring heated seats, and 16 hotels and B&Bs with a 4 or 5-star rating – the facts speak for themselves.
OBERLECH: Only accessible by cable car, on skis or a snowboard, and at an altitude of 1750 m, the village is idyllically nestled in the Vorarlberg mountain world. It is also thanks to this mountain air that Oberlech glimmers in white from November to May. Despite guaranteed snow, the area is one of the sunniest in the Arlberg. Famed for its sun terraces, this is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed lunch or a refreshing drink after time on the slopes.
ST. ANTON:
St. Anton am Arlberg is a snowy paradise of the highest calibre in winter, and a hotspot for hikers and climbers in the summer. But there’s more - St. Anton am Arlberg is a modern holiday resort that has retained its traditional appeal. Hospitality and Tyrolean customs are as much a trademark of the village as its international, cosmopolitan character. And not only does it offer a colossal backdrop of peaks and popular (skiing) mountains, it also has all the comforts you would expect from an international holiday resort.
