LA THUILE

The massive Rutor and the majestic Mont Blanc are the backdrop to the extraordinary valley of La Thuile, the westernmost town of Aosta Valley, located at 1441 m, on the border with France. Sunny, wild and unspoiled nature, a mountain village attached to its traditions.

The resort of La Thuile, is easily accessible, being close to the major airports of northern Italy including Milan and Turin, as well as being under a two-hour drive from Geneva in Switzerland. La Thuile retains an authentic mountain village feel, with beautiful views of the Alps. Activities available in the region are extensive throughout the year. Enjoy 1200 km of downhill and cross-country slopes in the winter or a natural playground in the summer season, where you can trek, mountain bike or visit the Dora River for water sports including rafting, canyoning and fishing. This ideal location allows visitors to explore 160 km of skiing in Italy and France, being only 15 km drive from the French border and neighbouring Courmayeur.

The wide grassy basin of La Thuile is dominated by the 3,846m Mont Rutor with its picturesque glacier. A village of about 800 inhabitants, the "Tchuileins" are  divided into small fractions crossed by the Dora (River) Rutor and Dora of Verney. The architecture of the houses is typical of mountain villages, built with stone and wood as the rustic buildings of the past, with roofs covered with the typical "lose" slabs of stone that can only be found in Valle d'Aosta or in neighboring Tarentaise. Thanks to its geographical position and characteristics of the area, La Thuile offers a long winter season with guaranteed snow, and a pleasant summer climate perfect for hiking, mountain biking and moments of absolute relaxation.
