Switzerland's famous Interlaken holiday region is home to undiscovered mountain bike opportunities in addition to world-class scenery and hiking.
By the beginning of the 19th century, Jungfrau region, in the Bernese Oberland had already become renowned for its impressive mountain scenery. Possibility to combine mountain bike rides with Jungfraujoch and Schilthorn – cog-railway to the highest railway station in Europe, and the cableway to the Piz Gloria revolving restaurant: two of Switzerland's top mountain experiences.
The 160 km of mountain bike trails in the Jungfrau Region do require a certain level of fitness - but thankfully, there are always trains and cable cars which can take the strain out of many a climb, and the views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau is spectacular. While this region is not a developed MTB region per se, there are enough options to keep riders busy for 3-4 days. Ascend by train to Kleine Scheidegg where the notorious Eiger North Wall is in full view, and descend the legendary Lauberhorn World Cup Ski course, but on singletrack. Or the trails down to Grindelwald from First with full views of the Nordwand, starting in the high alpine, and finishing on lush loamy forest singletrack.

Sample 4-day Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival at ZHR airport, transfer to your Grindelwald accommodation (3h). Settle into hotel, possibility for afternoon ride depending on arrival time. Drinks and dinner at hotel. Overnight in Grindelwald.
Day 2: Breakfast at hotel. Meet with bike guide at hotel, take the gondola up to First. Intro day exploring Grindelwald area, bike down to the valley. Picnic lunch on the mountain. Dinner at hotel. Overnight in Grindelwald.
Day 3: Breakfast at hotel. Ascend by train to Kleine Scheidegg where the notorious Eiger North Wall is in full view and bike the legendary alpine ski run « The Lauberhorn ». Lunch in the lovely village of Wengen on the other side of the mountain. Afternoon rides above Wengen. Train or bike back to the hotel. Dinner at hotel. Overnight in Grindelwald.
Day 4: Breakfast at hotel, check out. Final day of riding in Grindelwald, we will explore Lauterbrunnen valley and the car-free resort of Mürren, perched on a cliff. Enjoy the secret singletrack rides in Murren and Winteregg, finishing the day with a cold beer on Lauberhorn Hotel’s terrasse watching the sun going down.
