The best time for riding in the Alps is during the fall, when cooler temperatures prevail, and you can combine some great routes with experiencing the bounty of the fall harvest. Discover the "terroir" of the Valais region by taking part in local harvest traditions, explore the endless paths through picturesque alpine pastures, ancient terraced vineyards or the dramatic alpine regions. Visits with local winemakers, special private dinners with pairings, and harvest festivals celebrating local specialties, from cheese to apples, and local charcuterie.
In the Southwest corner of Switzerland, the Rhône Valley is home to some of the most diverse mountain bike terrain in the Alps, with resorts like Verbier, the Portes du Soleil, Crans-Montana, and Zermatt all within easy striking distance. Not to mention the myriad of "underground" trails, accessed by trains, trams, and road shuttles, that crisscross the region. Whether you enjoy adrenaline-charged lift-served freeriding, leg-pumping XC rides, or a combination of the two, the Rhône Valley has it all. Fall is also the wine harvest, and the Valais region of Switzerland is Switzerland's biggest producer, harvest-inspired local meals, combined with Epic rides, make this trip a feast for you and your bike.
