Epic Singletrack Riding Under the Matterhorn

This summer or fall, head to the historic alpine village of Zermatt for a legendary MTB trip in the heart of the Alps. Ride up the Gornergrat cog-rail train for a 5,000-foot descent into the postcard-perfect village with views of the mighty Matterhorn and Monte Rosa. Or take a cablecar to the summit of the Rothorn, where you'll drp from the high alpine to larch forests, linking up with the flowy Europaweg, and taking you all the way to Täschalp. Ot for beginners, the new bike path from Zermat down-valley to Täsch is a great introduction to singletrack, and can continue 40km all the way to the town of Visp, where you catch the train back up to Zermatt, a civilized way to ride! Whether you're looking for XC climbs, flowy enduro-style trails, or steep and technically-demanding singletrack, the mountains surrounding Zermatt offer a wide range of trails for every ability.

The Pennine Alps are riddled with an ancient system of walking trails, and through over 500 years of use, they have been buffed clean and smooth, and are ideal for mountain bikes. Only recently has this crossover been realized, and we're still discovering new rides all the time. The potential for finding a new epic trail in this part of Switzerland is unlimited, and every ride ends in a postcard- perfect village with a cafe that serves cold beer and tasty meals.
