By now, it's no secret that we had a dry December throughout the Alps, but following the new year's storms that lasted 2 weeks, it seemed that everything was back to normal - until a big thaw took hold and warmed everything up. The truth is, it was probably a good thing, in terms of adding stability to the snowpack at all elevations. And as February arrived, so did winter, making a much-anticipated return.
It's the best when a storm comes in warm and wet and goes out cold - making for ideal powder skiing on a denser base, which is exactly what we got last week. Big smiles were had across the resorts of the Alps, as locals and lucky guests got some low-stress, uncrowded powder turns before the February holidays. And now, with consistent cold storms lining up for the next 2+ weeks, it looks like the best skiing of the winter is yet to come. It's a great time to take advantage of last-minute deals, so let us know if you want to get in on the fantastcic conditions this spring.
