For years, we’d heard about Les Neiges D’Antan, a funky mountain hotel with a legendary restaurant, located just below Cervinia, Italy, in the hamlet of Cret de Perreres. A favorite of our Zermatt mountain guides, we finally wound up there for a long spring lunch after some incredible corn skiing on the Italian side of the Matterhorn.
Proprietor Ludovico Bich comes from a long line of mountain men and hoteliers, and he has created an ambience unlike any other hotel we’ve found in the Alps - a perfect blend of cool and cozy. From the traditional wood-paneled bar to the chic modern lounge (with the most amazing vinyl collection we’ve seen in decades), to the dining room packed with vintage engravings of the Alps, or the unique serpentine rock-cooled wine cellar, to the perfect-designed wellness area, Mr. Bich has thought of everything. And the food is every bit as outrageous as the setting.
Whether for a night or two in the winter, or for some mountain biking in Cervinia’s summer season, we can’t wait to go back to Les Neiges d’Antan, the perfect mountain getaway.
