In the past 2 weeks, we have gone from “zero to hero” here in the western Alps. The storms that began on the 13th dumped meters of powder, followed by high winds, then changed to wet and heavy snow...a volatile recipe for the snowpack to be sure. Mandatory closures of some roads, and even evacuations in the “zone rouge” above the village of Verbier for the first time since the winter of ’99.
But it has finally cleared, all lifts are up and running, and the skiing is as good as it gets. We couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas present. Happy holidays to everyone from us here at Epic Europe!
