1619, a group of Cistercian monks built a monastery on the ruins of a chapel built a century before their arrival. In 1862, the monastery was bought by the Incisa Counts, a noble family of the surrounding valleys and transformed into a private house. In 2002, after four centuries of history, San Maurizio opens its doors to the world. Today the monastery is a refined Relais & Châteaux 5* residence, San Maurizio is the result of an attentive restoration which carefully preserved the heritage of the past. The beautiful interiors are decorated to offer maximum comfort, putting together original details, classic lines and refined technology.

 

The 36 rooms and suites all offer breathtaking views of the Langhe hills, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Each one with different characteristics, largely drawn from the ancient cells of monks and equipped to offer maximum comfort.

  

FOOD & WINE: “Guido da Costigliole” with 1 Michelin Star, is situated in the ancient cellars of the monastery, where the walls are made of original Langa stone and the exposed brick ceilings create an atmosphere of great warmth and charm. In summer the Monterosa terrace, that overlooks the kitchen and the Langhe hills up to the Alps

 

CELLAR: Tradition of great wines in the cellars of the former Cistercian monastery transformed in Relais, to serve the guests a precious collection wines of Piedmont and beyond.

 

WELLNESS & MEDICAL SPA: The award-winning Medical & Wellness Spa mixes ancient knowledge with the most advanced prevention techniques. Their team of specialists is able to advise the treatments for the care and prevention of diseases and aging under the supervision of a physician.

 

POOL & GARDENS: Outdoor swimming pool framed by green vines and blue lavender, with 360° view of the Moscato vineyards and the Langa hills.
