For 5 generations, the Waldhaus-Sils has been run by the same family - a classic historic 5-star, lost in time. Preserving unique traditions, the hotel prides itself on offering old-fashioned, discreet, and very personal attention to all guests. Located 7 km from St Moritz on the lake, in the little village of Sils-Maria, the hotel’s main goal is to enhance the old traditions, and has been awarded Swiss “Historic Hotel of the Year”. With the wealth of activities right out the door, the Waldhaus Sils is the perfect alternative to the bustle of St Moritz.
In this old and complex hotel, no two rooms are exactly alike; within the nine room categories, there are many combinations of suites and rooms: new rooms and old ones (some even with the restored furnishings of 1908), rooms with balcony or without, with parquet floors or not, with a bathtub or a shower or both, and so forth. The Waldhaus prides itself on being child friendly; parents can leave their children (age 3 to 12) in the expert and loving care of Anita Bryner and her helpers. Anita’s program also includes excursions, children’s parties, cooking by and for children and much more.
SPA & WELLNESS: The Waldhaus wellness area includes modern facilities such as an indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room and fitness area, and offers full range of beauty and massage treatments. However, the house wellness focus is more traditional; the best therapy is the fresh air of the mountains at the doorstep of this unique historic hotel.
FOOD & DRINK: The Waldhaus takes half-board very seriously, convinced that the festive and relaxed ritual of dining “together, if separately” in the elegant, high-ceilinged restaurants is an essential part of experiencing this historic hotel. Of course, you can always choose to for-go the half-pension and dine à la carte or at any one of the renowned restaurants in St. Moritz.
Chef Kurt Röösli and his team devote much time and care to the varied and sophisticated daily menus, which range from traditional to modern, from simple to elaborate, and always include vegetarian choices.
LOCATION: Sils-Maria is an idyllic alpine village located 7km from St Moritz; the local Sils chairlift connects to the Corvatch resort. Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice-skating and sledding are possible just steps from the door of the Waldhaus.
