Chalet Les Ecureuils was built in 1964, and renovated in winter 2006/2007, and is one of our favorite family properties. Located at the foot of the Matterhorn, it is perched on a hill in a perfectly-preserved natural setting. Deer are regular visitors, and squirrels visit at the kitchen window while you prepare your meals. The chalet offers total tranquility, even though the busy life in the village, as well as the ski-lifts, are only minutes away by foot.
Decorated using natural woods and materials with comfortable furnishings that compliment its individual character. The spacious lounge has a large wood-burning fireplace, comprising ample comfortable seating for 12 people, overlooking the terrace and garden with its breathtaking views of the Matterhorn. Separated from the lounge by glass doors, the dining area has a long table that seats 12 and benefits from a feature window overlooking the surrounding mountains and village of Zermatt. The modern kitchen adjoins the dining area.
The Chalet comprises 5 double bedrooms, 3 en suite + an additional bunkroom - children's play-room, 1 extra bathroom and a separate WC.
WELLNESS: Tropicarium sauna (a cross between a sauna and steam room), perfect therapy after a day’s skiing, along with its adjoining relaxation area where massage and reflexology can be arranged on request.
FOOD & DRINK: In the winter, Chalet Les Ecureuils is offered catered, including daily breakfast service, afternoon tea and dinner on 5 nights. Menus are created in advance between the guests and chef, house wine and drinks have been carefully selected by the chalet management and owner.
LOCATION: Conveniently located just a few minutes walk from the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise gondola station, but away from it all atop a rock outcropping accessed via private funicular (inclined elevator / telecabin). At the bottom of the funicular you have access to a garage, where you can store prams, sleds, skis, etc.
