The hospitality of the Hotel Storchen at the Weinplatz in Zurich has been renowned for more than 650 years. Legend has it that the name “Zum Storchen” was adopted after a pair of rare black storks nested on its roof in the middle ages. In 1357, the Hus zum Storchen was mentioned in the tax records for the city of Zürich for the first time and just over 100 years later, it was specifically described as an inn.
The river front location of the Storchen is best in the city, offering incredible views of the Limmat river, the Münsterbrücke Bridge, and the Old Town, and walking distance to the Bahnhofstrasse, Fraumünster, local museums and sites. FOOD & DRINK: Restaurant “Rôtisserie” in the elegant Storchen dining room, specializes in meats and fish grilled over a wood fire, paired with local specialties and creative side dishes. Open for lunch and dinner, in the summer enjoy your meal on the terrace with its exclusive view of the River Limmat and the Grossmunster Church.
The Storchen Bar, with its leather sofas and windows emblazoned with the crests of the ancient Zürich guilds, serves light lunch and cocktails, with live music nightly.
“Boulevard-Café” the open-air café rambling through the Weinplatz, in the shade of the trees, directly fronting onto the River Limmat. From April to October the Boulevard serves light lunch, snacks and drinks, come early to secure a table.
