VAL D'ISÈRE

 

Despite the fact that Val d'Isère has undergone an architectural renovation programme the village remains deeply traditional. In 1983, when Savoy launched its bid to host the Winter Olympic Games, the local town council at that time decided to take an original approach. In the space of a few short years, the aspect of the resort changed and an authentic, traditional village welcomed the Olympic flame. Today any new construction work is closely monitored. Motor traffic is restricted in the village and the heart of the resort is reserved exclusively for pedestrians.

 

Early risers will be rewarded with the exceptional view of nature in full splendour. All the snow you could wish for is there on your doorstep. Savour the exhilarating experience of sweeping down the slopes from dawn until dusk. Enjoy all the top quality facilities that are naturally to be found in modern resorts. Rest a while and appreciate the charm of a traditional alpine village. Après ski is the perfect time for sharing tales of your day’s adventures by the fireside with the locals.

 

300 km of slopes, free-ride itineraries, a snowpark, a high altitude and an outstanding geographical situation combine to provide something for everyone, including children and beginners. Don’t forget Jean-Claude Killy learnt to ski in Val d’Isère. The skiing area is not called Espace Killy for nothing.

 

Val d’Isère is living proof that there’s more to the mountains than just skiing and snowboarding. Walking is the perfect way to explore Val d’Isère and its surroundings. The relaxed pace allows you to appreciate the animal and plant life whilst simply savouring the moment. Mountain biking is not in left. Val d’Isère and Tignes join forces to offer mountain bike enthusiasts a double dose of excitement. MTB access to the lifts is completely free of charge! Val d'Isère have just opened a special family and beginner easy green run on Bellevarde offering a 12 km gentle descent with lay-bys to rest in and admire the magnificent scenery.
