One of our favorite child-friendly resorts, a ski trip to Zermatt is ideal for all abilities and ages. From train-accessed sledding on the Rotenboden luge-piste, to the beginners’ area Wölli-Park at Sunnegga, ice-skating, and ropes course, to glacier palaces and more, there is something for children of all ages. Our personally-vetted ski instructors and guides can meet at your chalet or hotel each morning, and deliver the kids back home after skiing. At lunch, everyone can reconvene on-mountain and share their tales of the day. There are even beginner options to tackle a border crossing into neighboring Italy, for a lunch of pizza and gelato before returning home. And with the ever-present option of hot chocolate at an on-mountain restaurant, the youngest skiers will never run out of energy.
With a lively village atmosphere that is the basis for nearly every alpine resort that has followed in Zermatt’s footsteps, the family activities don’t have to stop on the snow. The Matterhorn Museum offers a glimpse into the history of the first fabled ascent of the most famous mountain in the Alps, or catch a movie at the Vernissage before dinner out on the town.
